The Barns at Redcoats, a firm favourite Hertfordshire wedding venue for OWP!

Why I Love Filming Weddings at The Barns at Redcoats, Hitchin

There are some wedding venues that, the moment you arrive, you just know it’s going to be a good day.
The Barns at Redcoats in Hitchin is 100% one of those places.
As a wedding videographer in Hertfordshire, I’m lucky enough to film at some pretty amazing venues — but The Barns at Redcoats always stands out. Whether it’s glorious sunshine, or one of those moody, atmospheric days, this place delivers every single time.
After filming multiple weddings here over the last few years, I can confidently say it’s one of my absolute favourite wedding venues to work at. And no, that’s not just because the dance floors are always epic (although that definitely helps).
Let me tell you why I love filming weddings at The Barns at Redcoats so much.

A Wedding Venue That Looks Incredible on Film

From a videography point of view, The Barns at Redcoats is basically cheating.
The barns are full of character, unique quirks and classic decor — whether I’m filming quiet morning moments, emotional ceremonies, or full-on dance floor chaos later in the evening. There’s a lovely balance between rustic charm and clean, modern elegance, which means wedding films here always feel timeless rather than trendy.
One wedding that instantly comes to mind is Carmen & Jonathan’s day. We were treated to some very warm weather 🌞, and the light around the venue was just perfect. Add in a couple who were clearly having the best day of their lives, and you’ve got wedding film magic.

Perfect Spaces for Every Part of the Day

One of the biggest reasons I love filming weddings at The Barns at Redcoats is how well the day flows.
Most of the time everything happens in one place — prep, ceremony, drinks, dinner, dancing — which is not only great for guests, but also brilliant for storytelling in a wedding film. I’m never rushing off to another location or missing moments while travelling between venues.
Each space feels distinct, yet connected:
Beautiful barns or well kept gardens for ceremonies that feel intimate and emotional
Gorgeous outdoor areas for relaxed drinks receptions and confetti
Warm, atmospheric spaces that transform into full party mode by the evening
And trust me… when that dance floor gets going, it really gets going.

A Dream Team to Work With

Another huge reason The Barns at Redcoats is one of my favourite wedding venues in Hertfordshire?
The team.
Every time I film here, the staff are friendly, organised, calm and genuinely lovely to work alongside. That makes a massive difference — not just for suppliers, but for couples too. When everything runs smoothly behind the scenes, it allows you to actually enjoy your wedding day (and it shows on film).
Laura & Toby’s wedding is a great example of this. Their day was full of colour, energy, personality and so so many glitter balls!— 😍
A top day, with a top team, and an absolute pleasure to be part of from start to finish.

A Venue That Suits All Kinds of Couples

One thing I really love about filming weddings at The Barns at Redcoats is how versatile it is.
Whether you’re planning:
A relaxed, fun-filled wedding with lots of laughter
A colourful, personality-packed celebration
Or a slightly more elegant, classic day with a big party to finish
…it just works.
No two weddings I’ve filmed here have felt the same, and that’s exactly what you want. The venue adapts to you, rather than forcing your day into a fixed template — which makes for much more personal, meaningful wedding films. A perfect example of this was the wedding of Abbie & Phil. Their ceremony took place indoors due to the English weather not quite playing fairly, but luckily we were able to get outside for an epic confetti tunnel and even some drinks on the lawn. Everywhere at this venue just works!

One of the Best Wedding Venues in Hertfordshire

I’ve said it before and I’ll happily say it again — The Barns at Redcoats is easily one of the best places in Hertfordshire to get married. 🥂
Every time I’m there, it’s a good time. It’s an awesome venue, with a top-tier team, and an absolute pleasure to create wedding films in. From morning prep through to the final song of the night, it consistently delivers beautiful moments, great energy and unforgettable celebrations.
